HEARING SPANGLISH

My Cochlear Implant Journey with Carrie Spangler

Game Day – CI Surgery Success!

In my last blog I talked a lot about Game Day Anxiety and this certainly was something that I had high emotions about. The day before surgery, I actually felt less anxiety and more at peace with my decision to move forward.

Post Op Thankfulness

With the Thanksgiving Holiday around the corner, I want to share how grateful and thankful that I am. It has been a challenging few weeks as you will see, but all in all, I am grateful for many things.

Activation Day!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Do you remember how you felt when you were a little kid and could not wait for Santa?

Jingle Bell Rock!

Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Rock!

One-week post activation and what a world of jingle bells and many more sounds abound! In my last blog, I shared about ACTIVATION day and my perception of sound initially.

Birthday Wishes

December is a month of celebrations in our house!

We celebrate the greatest gift of Christmas, we celebrate 4 generations of December birthdays (my mom, my grandma who is celebrating in heaven, my daughter, and ME!).

Roaring 2020 and Happy New Year

The Roaring 20s and the New Year brings about new meaning as I experience this holiday season with an “newbie” cochlear implant. I am not going to lie; it has been a ROARING challenge to hear through the Christmas and New Year Holiday.

New HEAR Growth Goals

What are your New HEAR Growth Goals?

Whether you have normal hearing or have hearing challenges, we can all experience growth in our listening skills. God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason.

Working Out!

When I decided to pursue the cochlear implant, I knew that it was going to take time to train my brain to listen with it. Many people continue to ask me what I think of the CI.

STOP

Last week I had another checkup for my cochlear implant. Each time I go I am anxious to know how I might be performing during the speech discrimination testing.

JOY

A few weeks ago I was reading through a leadership blog and the word Productive Paranoia jumped out at me. This word struck a chord with me and I decided to investigate and find the source.
